Ben grinned with Maddie. “Now that I can agree with. And a bubble bath sounds wonderful.” He sidled up to his husband with a smirk. “I’d prefer to share though.” Nope. If Hatter got to do it, he was allowed to as well.
"Astrum, seriously, you…
Lifesaver rolled his eyes at Ben’s request. “Fine, but after the massage.”
Maddie meanwhile had snuck up behind them so she could squeeze between them and hook her arms with theirs. “Enough of that! To the spa!” And the lead them in the (general) direction of the castle, following the maids.
Ben snorted, hand over his mouth to keep his laughter from getting any louder. “C’mon Saver, we have the chance to relax and we should take it! Besides, remember how great the massages were?”
"Whoa, hey! Astrum! I can walk! You can put me down!" It was fairly comical to watch honestly; X, a measly 5’2", 5’3" with the right armor, getting scooped up by the 6’doesitmatter" Halfa right in front of the Queen and maids. And yes, they knew, because it was painfully obvious.
"I know you can walk Tantum. I just like indulging myself." Hatter grinned, eyes sparking mischievously. Blanca chuckled softly. "If you need anything at all, please don’t hesitate to ask the maids and servants. I’m afraid I have to get back to work now, though."
"Yes, Dearest, massages are wonderful, but I don’t want to become too complacent, even while away from my lab and office." He’ll tag along, for now, but he was still sorely tempted to head immediately for the library.
"Oh, come on Big Brother! We can have tea and cake in the gardens after the massage! OH! I would like the best bubble bath ever!" If Lifesaver was hesitant about indulging himself, Maddie certainly picked up the slack.
Ben made a face clearly displaying ‘NOPE’ and grabbed his husband by the arm, dragging Lifesaver over to Maddie and the maid. “Three for the spa, then?” He smiled at the bird, a little awed like Maddie.
"Really Astrum? We haven’t even been here for ten minutes and that’s your first suggestion?” X rolled his eyes playfully before turning his attention to the rest of their group. ”And wow, Lifesaver actually tried. Points for him, I guess.”
Hatter snickered, hat jostling on his head. “You didn’t say no. And he can try all he likes. But orders are orders. The maids follow theirs to a T.” He scooped his Adora into his arms.
Maddie snickered at Hatter’s boldness with his Adora. ”Aw, Big Brother, remember when you and Benny were like that?”
"Ah yes, sweeping my lover into my arms in the presence of a reigning Queen and several blushing maids—No Maddie, I don’t quite recall."
Honestly, he was a little annoyed that he still wasn’t allowed in the library.
Ben watched, impressed, as the maids easily handled the two most difficult animals. PomPom obediently went to Helen, as Necopi followed the otter maid. She was happy to see somebody could control Nix, and she had a feeling this was going to be fun!
While the pets and Pokemon were being rounded up, X nudged Hatter. ”So, what’s first on the itinerary?”
Ace attempted to escape his captor, but was only successful in flailing his legs around. He whined; he wanted to go back to Master!
The maid holding Ace gave him a noise mother dogs always did when they sensed a pup was acting up. The maids bustled the little ones away, and once they were out of sight the rest of the maids had their attention on the adults left. “You wish for spa? Yes. Will grant guest spa.” The larger of the maids, a beautiful swan-like creature with four wings, the extra two jutting from her back, bowed to Maddie.
Hatter smirked at X, his expression a bit leery. “I still have to show you to my quarters, Tantum.” The maids all seemed to turn red at the General’s voice, a few quietly giggling.
Maddie was in awe of the Swan Maid, and curtsied with a giggle. ”That sounds wonderful! Big Brother? Would you like a nice massage?”
Lifesaver had just watched the maids take Grace and Helen away, all the little ones, Ace and Nix excluded, tired and napping away. ”Actually, I was hoping that I may be shown the Royal Library?”
Ben snorted, trying not to wake Kelvin up. “I love magic.” He chuckled, cradling his son carefully before handing him to the maid. “Mind his head, okay?” Kelvin’s fins were well sized, and he had both, unlike his mother.
Ace perked up at the approach of the wolf-maid, and X smiled as he handed her Pax. ”Easy, Ace. She’s nice.” He nudged him with his foot when he heard a slight growl. ”Sorry, he’s a bit jealous, I think.”
The maid cuddled Pax gently, but at Ace’s growl, she crouched down, snuffed right in his face and picked him up by the scruff of his neck with the front of her muzzle. She might’ve been a female, but she wasn’t taking any lip from a pup. She stood back, Ace dangling from her muzzle like a disobedient pup being sent to time out by its mother, and Pax cradled in her arms. The otter maid was less showy as she snatched Nix up, smooshing him into her hold as her other limb took Kelvin. If the otter gave any chatter, she headbutted him in the nose and chittered right back.
These nannies didn’t mess around.
Lifesaver watched in awe as the maids took the infants and Ace and Nix away. He was especially impressed with the way the otter maid handled Nix. ”At last, we have found someone who can teach us how to properly deal with Nix.” He still held Helen close to him, she was officially worn out.
Maddie yawned herself. ”When can we go to the spa? You don’t spoil me nearly as much as you do your wife, and I’m your only sister!”
Ben had instantly frizzed in alarm, sparks racing along his hair and clothes. He immediately was by Maddie’s side, growling as his antenna flashed and crackled. Violent outbursts, willingness to harm others, and now apparently demonic possession? Not in his fucking house.
Her friends were frightened. She was Guardian. She could not allow them to be frightened. Madotsuki was seized in a careful but firm grip, and the red rabbit toted the child out, keeping an iron grip around the child’s middle as she reached the lift and directed it up by button. It was habitual; how many times had she flicked this switch to seek Lifesaver for his assistance?
"Shameful. Everybody knows that a truly competent doctor uses anesthesia to quiet their patients down. As far I know, kidnappers are who tend to use chloroform.”
Whoever that had borrowed Madotsuki’s identify, was showing to be someone that not only was not inhibited from saying what she—or he?— thought, but also had the antipathetic habit of rubbing it in people’s faces. Anyone who knew Madotsuki enough would know that wasn’t really one of her traits. She could be messed up, and everything, but having a polite speech was something nobody could deny that she had.
"And you still expected her to not react the way she did? It is not the first time she was gagged and touched.”
She managed to pick the cat doll before basically being dragged by Skarlette for a bit. But just after being taken out of the lift, the figure grew annoyed and managed to knock herself away from Skarlette’s grip despite how firm it was, landing a bit abruptly but still smoothly on her feet next to the bunny lady. This person took no crap from anybody. Madotsuki maybe could, but not them.
"Let go. She may be your little friend, but I am not. I’m in no hurry either, even though she was. So don’t think you can drag me around."
Whoever that was using the ‘Madotsuki clothing’ was at least someone very calm… and seemed to know about important things.
Lifesaver was fuming. Did that idiot actually think he hadn’t considered all the options?
Anesthesia requires a patient to be still, and takes time. Preferred, yes, but a quick solution was needed. Madotsuki was in hysterics, and nearly stabbed him. And as worked up as she was, she might have been able to resist the anesthesia long enough to seriously hurt someone.
And as for the other part, she wasn’t being gagged during the examination. He was professional, and when Madotsuki was uncomfortable with him, he left, taking the other male with him. For a standard medical examination, he made many concessions for her.
But enough was enough.
Maddie was staring at the lift with tears in her eyes when Lifesaver looked at her with a stern expression. ”Destroy those samples, Maddie. That girl is the first to be black listed here. If we are to assist her, she had best learn some manners. Her and her alternative persona.”
Ben saw that gleam in his husband’s eyes and sighed with a wistful smirk. Old habits die hard, he supposed. But really, couldn’t Lifesaver for once take the chance to REST?
Oh shit the maids! X practically jumped behind Hatter, watching the surrounding area frantically. Ace yawned and flopped down on X’s shoes; he was tired!
Instead of the enthusiastic greeting X had received before, the maids greeted the group calmly and orderly, all heads bowed as they welcome the guests and the Queen in a chorus. Two maids approached X and Ben for the infants, a wolf-like creature and a green-furred otter. Hatter smirked at Lifesaver. “I figured it would be in taste somewhat.”
Lifesaver half-heartedly scowled at Hatter before cringing as Nix climbed up his back—under his lab coat—to greet the maid with an enthusiastic squeak. ”Would you mind taking him now as well?”
Ben was frowning at Madotsuki, on edge and alert. If the child woke up, he wouldn’t allow her to attempt to harm Maddie or his husband. He turned his gaze on Skarlette, the frown softening a little at the look on her face.
Skarlette nodded. “I will return her at once when you have finished.” And likely flee to the city. She needed hugs. A lot of hugs. To see the child she’d saved become so…demonic, when faced with professional help…
It was maybe only an instant of possible only slightly distraction, but then, the kid’s eyes were open, but they were staring right at the ceiling above her, not having moved at all either.
Her eyes were just half open, though, with an expression of uninterest, like, “¬¬”. And while it was her eyes, yet it seemed like the gaze wasn’t hers.
"… what’s this stinky smell… oh, chloroform. Must be what put her to sleep."
Her voice was the same, but her numb child tone was replaced with a much more mature-sounding one, and the way she was speaking made her almost sound like an adult speaking.
"… definitely not the same hospital. The other she’s been for three days was much more professional-looking."
The kid sat up on the examination table, seemingly to simply ignore the others around her, actually even yawning and cracking her neck a bit. Her uninterested expression was ever-lasting.
Lifesaver and Maddie both froze as they heard Madotsuki speaking, but the way the child spoke… They knew it wasn’t Madotsuki speaking. They stared as she sat up, completely uninhibited by the chloroform. And somehow, that comment about how “professional” his clinic seemed really bothered him.
This was it. Lifesaver had had enough. ”Skarlette, escort her immediately out of my clinic.” Maddie was too scared to speak, and hid behind her brother. Lifesaver moved to hide her a bit better, and glared at the girl. The knife was on the counter, where Madotsuki—who was possessed?—couldn’t see it.
Ben was proud as well. And much more relaxed, knowing that their children would be safe. But…he frowned as something occurred to him. He wouldn’t voice it, of course, but maybe…maybe later on he’d ask.
X watched as Helen was blessed by the Queen, and felt just a bit better about this. Out of all of the children, Helen was probably the one that needed protection the most, being the Antivirus and all.
Blanca kissed Helen’s forehead as the light faded, and she walked back over, carrying the child carefully as she was handed back to her father. “These children will grow happy. And with my Blessing, I grant them luck for the future. If ever they need a light to guide them, they will find it.” The Queen had a serene look as she gazed over the adults of the group. “And that light will always lead home.”
She lifted her arm to gesture towards the gate. “I believe they need rest now. Shall we let the maids take over? They’re eager to meet the little ones.”
Ah yes, the maids. ”Absolutely, it’s about time for their naps in any case.” He didn’t say anything, but he could have sworn that he saw something glowing on Helen’s forehead. But it was only for an instant, and it was gone, and all he could see now was his sleepy daughter.
He’ll have to research it later.
